It Happened Here
Kevin Brownlow and Andrew Mollo's 1964 film that recreates London as it would have been under
Nazi occupation, had Germany invaded Britain.
It Happenned Here took eight years to make with hundreds of extras recreating authentic imagined scenes across London.
The film uses real veteran BBC announcers John Snagge, Alvar Lidellin and Frank Phillips in the reconstructed newsreel scenes.
No stock newsreel was used, everything was recreated from scratch. With Mollo providing the Military knowledge (he was a well known collector of militaria)
The film deals with the troubling issue of collaboration. Brownlow and Mollo based all the events in the story on real events that took place
in occupied countries during the war.
The majority of the cast were non professionals, and only Sebastian Shaw was well known as an actor.
