Above: Reconstruction: Jim Jones' 'Throne', from Jonestown, Guyana, circa 1978: top platform with table and chair.

It was from this seat that Jones' instigated many of the events that took place at Jonestown, including the 'White Nights' rituals.

A microphone for broadcasting across through the Jonestwon PA system was never far away from the table. Often a tape recorder was placed nearby to record the meetings that regularly took place.

Deborah Layton has commented that during the marathon meetings and alerts which took place, lasting up to six hours, Jones was able to sit on this relatively comfortable seat with a cushion, while the Jonestown residents had only long backless benches.
